Turkey Day!!! :)

Well, we are all d oing well down here in Maryland at the moment. Chloe is doing very well with eating, although she still isn't a fabulous nurser. Especially since she is entirely too distracted by her big brother!!

Chloe had physical therapy today for the last time with her current PT, Theresa (she is due to have her own baby in only 9 days!). The PT taking over Chloe's case will be coming on Saturdays. I am hoping that this will work out, although that will possibly limit what we can do on those mornings. It will be nice in the sense that Kenton can be here to see the therapy in action and have a better idea about things to do with her to help her get moving! :) It's only every other week, so I think that it will all work out fine.

Noah as been having a great time at preschool. This week was all about Thanksgiving and he made an Inidan feather hat and a pilgrim's hat. He was very proud of them! He also made a turkey with a toilet paper roll and construction paper. It was pretty cute.

We are also getting ready to head home for Turkey Day! We will be leaving Tuesday night and staying until Saturday night. We are really excited to go home, since we haven't been there since Labor day! That was a very very long time ago!!! I miss my family!!!!

Haircuts!

If you can believe it (MOM!), my boys got desperate enough that they needed a haircut ASAP. Since we won't be home in Punxsy for another couple of weeks, I decided that it was now or never that I attempt to cut their hair myself. I have seen my mom do it a bazillion of times, so I had at least a VERY SMALL idea as to how to go about it. Although not perfect, Noah's hair turned out rather well, and Kenton's hair looks great! No complaints from him at all! As I was trimming it, I kept telling him that if it was awful, he would just have to go and get it fixed. Thankfully, that was not the case, and it looks fabulous! I can only say that I am so proud of myself, since I have always been such a chicken about doing this! But Kenton hasn't hasn't had his hair trimmed since the first week of September, he was growing wings! :) We will have to be sure to get it trimmed again when we are home visiting for Thanksgiving! But I can honestly say now that I feel comfortable enough to do it myself during those interludes between visits. Wahoo!

So, today is yucky outside. It's been raining since last night, and that is never fun. But we need it, so I really shouldn't be complaining. We just got back from school. Noah loves his preschool so much. He is always very shy when I drop him off and doesn't want me to leave, but when I pick him up, he tells me that he wants me to leave him there and to go away! Kids! :)

On the way home, he was so cute. He said, "Look at all the beautiful trees. All the leaves are falling off and then I will get to play in them!" It's amazing how they go from not being able to speak to full sentences. Boy how time flies!

We think Chloe is working on teeth, because she has been extremely cranky for the last couple of days. I forgot how horrible teething is! She doesn't want to nurse really at all. Anymore she will only do it for about 5 minutes, and then she is done, done, done. No amount of coaxing will convince her to take more. And she is IN LOVE with solid food. She is a little bird who can't get enough of it. It makes meal times that much quicker. She chows down and is finished in a few minutes flat. I rocked the vote!

Well, I have done my civic duty and voted at 10:00 this morning. I dropped the kids off with Malissa (my neighbor) and walked over the the elementary school to cast my ballot. It's very nice to be able to walk to my polling place, it's practically right across the street. It's odd, but the last (and first) time that I voted, we were right across the street from our polling place as well! Maybe we will have to make it a point to always live across the street from a school! :)

Kenton tried to vote before heading into work, but the parking lot was overflowing so he decided to just go into work. He is planning on leaving work to vote at some point. He doesn't really want to wait in line at 5:00. He would probably have to wait forever, and who knows when he would get home! He needs to be home by 6:00 because I am going out with girlfriends (for the first time since Chloe was born!) to P.F. Chang's! I am very excited about this!!!!! Dinner out with the girls is just what I need! :)

Chloe is currently sleeping, but I am hoping that she wakes up soon. I would like to get out to return a few things to Target and claim my free cup of coffee from Starbucks for voting. Yeah to the caffeine! Gotta love it! :)

What's new with us...

Hello to everyone. Today is November 3rd, the day before the election. I personally can't wait for it to be over! I have my own personal feelings about the whole thing and I am just praying that everything will turn out okay (but I'm not holding my breath!).

As for the kiddos....

Noah is currently attending a small preschool program either once or twice a week. It is held at a local high school and it has really been good for him. Of course, he won't tell me anything that he did that day, but I know that he has a great time!

For those who don't know, Chloe has been diagnosed with Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), or Brittle Bone Disease. The only sign/symptom that she has is blue sclera, but the DNA test came back positive. Kenton and I have had our blood work done to see if either of us carries the mutation, but that is highly unlikely, given the lack of evidence in our past medical histories. We currently have an appointment scheduled with KKI here in Baltimore for the OI Clinic on February 20th. We will be meeting with Dr. Shapiro, an orthopaedist, and a nutritionist all that same day. Hopefully we will get some good information from them that day. We will be taking Chloe to have a few x-rays done prior to the appointment in order to get a baseline look at her bone structure.

Halloween.....

So, Noah and Chloe went to Trunk or Treat at our church. Noah was a monkey (he really didn't need a costume to pull that one off) and Chloe was a butterfly (we thought this was kind of fitting since she literally is our fragile little butterfly!). Chloe got a little bit upset halfway through, but besides that, we had a great time. Noah is, of course, obsessed with candy now!!!! I can't wait till it's all gone! :)

Here We Go!

Welcome to our blog, a peek inside our lives, here at the White House! While Kenton works during the week, I am able to stay at home with our two children, Noah and Chloe. Sometimes I want to pull my hair out, but I would NEVER give up the time I have to watch them grow - from their very first breath to when I put them on the school bus (or walk to school in our case since we live right across the street!). Life can be difficult when you live 5 hours away from any family, but we manage quite well. Dating is pretty much non-existent at the moment. Babysitters are entirely too expensive ($10-$15/hr) and we have no family. It also doesn't help that our daughter is only 3 1/2 months old and exclusively breastfed. But this is just a moment in time and I know that we will eventually have time to ourselves again one day!
